Social Support
Have you gone on a weight loss or fat loss or fitness journey before (whatever you want to call it) and felt that you were on your own? Like no one was there to support you? Or even worse…others around you were trying to stop you from doing your thing. Perhaps they don’t understand why you suddenly aren’t eating pizza out or you’re spending more of your free time at the gym. It probably made the whole process a lot harder for you.
Let’s talk about social support. Because who you surround yourself with is very important.
Surround yourself with people who inspire you, uplift you, and support you. When everyone around you is working hard, you can’t help but work hard, too. When everyone around you is doing big things with their lives, you can’t help but do the same.
Choose who you spend your time around wisely.
And if some people close to you still aren’t supporting you, you’re going to have to be able to ignore it and work on yourself alone. Because at the end of the day…the only person who can get you to your goals is you. You know what you want and you can’t let anyone or anything stop you from getting it.
Many people judge my commitment and discipline when it comes to fitness. I’ve been judged, called “crazy,” and I’ve been misunderstood basically my whole life. Often times, my dedication and commitment seems outrageous to others.
I haven’t ever let this stop me, though. I kept doing what others wouldn’t because I wanted this for myself.
Realize you are on your own journey, you have your own goals, and don’t let those around you stop you from getting where you want to be.
And at the end of the day…the people are really just admiring what you’re doing because they won’t do it themselves.
Stick to it and do your thing. It will all pay off in the end.
